The Erich Mendelsohn Lamps
The house designed by Erich Mendelsohn in 1930 for his partner Luise Mendelsohn referred to as madam in the book ‘New House New World’ the lamp with pleated silk shade, the light through the pleaded raw silk shade makes her complexion look nice. Designed standard floor lamp, with pleated silk drum shade and is telescopic so that can be raised and lowered to desired height. Made of steel, that has been finished with Nickel plated and polished. The lamp is documented in the home in that it has been drawn in the house plans and shown in the photo.

The Mendelsohns went to England in June 1933, and went into partnership with Serge Chermayeff.

Serge Chermayeff designed his own home ‘Bentley Wood’ and the influence from Mendelsohn is very similar. The lamp is also covered in the floorplan of Bentley wood, photographed in the living room.
